We all know every function of a computer is run by a sequence of instructions which makes it possible to route through coding or software programming. Computer programming, coding or software programming are interchangeable terms, therefore, you don’t need to get confused if the usage is done differently. Programming enables the designing and development of executable data for processing a specific task. Programming facilitates commands provided to a computer to process and execute a certain function.
Types of programming language:
When a user gives the computer an input to perform a function it is given in a high-level language which then is interpreted into low-level language also known as machine language, executed and interpreted into the high-level language(assembly language) again to provide an output that is readable by the user interface. A high-level language is easy to be read and written by the programmer. This was the very basic module of a programming function.

- Machine and Assembly Language
A machine language consists of binary codes on combinations of 0s and 1s known as bits which are further converted to a hexadecimal base for modification and reviewing it on the user interface. Assembly language, on the other hand, used the short mnemonic code for providing instructions that give the programmers perks to introduce a name for these memory blocks/unit where data is stored. This language was designed particularly to make the transition of machine language easier. Both of these languages need complete structural knowledge of the internal hardware of the device because the programs interact with the Input/ Output units of the device i.e. keywords, mouse, printer, scanner etc.
- Algorithm Language
These are an unambiguous representation of mathematical and symbolic constants written in simple language which adaptable for conversion. Some types of algorithmic language may be counted as FORTRAN, a language designed by IGM(1957) that easily translates efficient machine language. ALGOL or Algorithmic language. LISP(1960 by John McCarthy), a language that became the basis of AI (Artificial intelligence) programming. C(1972) by Dennis Ritchie and Brian Kernighan for the operating systems whose descendant is C++ which still remains most common programming language. Other examples may be counted as Java, Python, Ruby, PHP etc.
- Business Oriented Language
COBOL(Common business oriented language) acronym for business-oriented language is a heavily used language for recording and storage of data by the business organization. It was specifically designed for business-oriented usage.
